Design of the lifting trunnions and stability check of the shell of a 195m (640ft) steel chimney erected inside a concrete structure.
Emasa Engineering designed, together with ALE’s engineering team, the methodology for the installation of the steel chimney in sections. Advanced Finite Element Analysis were used for the lifting trunnion design, for cable length sensitivity analysis, and for the verification of the chimney’s shell against buckling.
Our works also included the design of a custom made 5t davit installed at the top of the chimney which was used for general material handling during the construction.
